Otter and Pappoose Yarn was launched in 2021.
My love of crafts started at a very young age. I used to watch my mum make her own cushions, curtains and change upholstery in our family home. She made me a bean bag for a reading nook in my bedroom, which I adored spending hours of my time in reading, drawing, listening to music and writing poems.
I later learnt how to crochet through patient teaching by my Nanny Mary and good friend Kelly with help also from 'Bella Coco Crochet' on YouTube. I was then totally hooked.
Our brand name was created when my love for making amigurumi animals began. I made an Otter as a Christmas present in secret for my boyfriend, and then made a Zebra. When I finished the Zebra I hugged it with so much love as it was absolutely adorable. My boyfriend said it looked like it was in a 'Pappoose' (a baby carrier) and I loved the sound of the name so it stuck.
